Frequently Asked Questions

What is an animal species adoption?

An adoption is an engaging and informative way to help endangered animals by selecting one species to learn about them. You will find out some interesting facts about the chosen species, what challenges they face in the wild, and hear news of the animals that call our partner parks home.

By adopting an animal species, you will be helping to support The Aspinall Foundation’s vital overseas conservation work, protecting endangered animals in their natural habitat and returning rescued and captive animals to the wild where possible. Adoptions fund all of our work and not just to your adopted species.

Which species can I adopt?

We have thirteen animal species available for adoption: African painted dog, brown bear, cheetah, clouded leopard, elephant, European bison, giraffe, gorilla, Javan langur, lion, rhino, tiger and wolf.

All these species are present at one or both of partner parks in Kent, and you can go and see them with the free tickets included in your adoption (except for Bronze adoption).

How long does my adoption last?

If you make a one-off payment, the adoption will last for one year.

Will I be the only person who adopts this animal species?

No, there is no limit on the number of people who can adopt a species. Funds raised from all adoptions will go towards our entire mission to conserve rare and endangered species.

What updates will I receive for my adoption?

You will receive updates from the field on our overseas conservation work including our bi-annual Wildcry magazine as well as updates on your adopted species.

You will also receive free park tickets (except for Bronze adoption) – the number of tickets varies with the level of adoption (1 ticket for Silver, 2 for Gold and 4 for Platinum).

These updates and free tickets will be sent to you by email if you select a digital adoption or by post if you select a physical adoption.

What is the difference between a digital and physical adoption pack?

Both a digital and physical adoption pack include an adoption certificate, fact file and photocard. A physical adoption pack also includes a soft toy.

A digital adoption pack is ready to download immediately. We offer this as an eco-friendly alternative to a standard adoption pack. Please note we are unable to personalise digital adoption certificates, but you can do so yourself before you print them.

A physical adoption pack is sent to you, or the address specified, in the post.

How long will my physical adoption pack take to be delivered?

For UK delivery, your adoption pack should arrive within 14 working days. If you have not received your pack within 14 working days, please email fundraising@aspinallfoundation.org

For European orders, please allow up to 14 working days.

For international orders outside of Europe, please allow up to 30 working
days.

Please note: deliveries outside of the UK may be susceptible to customs duty (import) charges which are outside of our control. Please check for any charges that may be
incurred based on the destination country’s applicable regulations before deciding to purchase.

Can I change the delivery address after I have placed the adoption order?

We can change the delivery address if you contact us within 12 hours of placing your order. After this time, we may be unable to.

Can I track my adoption pack?

Deliveries within the UK can be tracked if this option is selected at checkout. We cannot provide tracking information for deliveries outside of the UK.

How is my adoption money spent?

Animal adoptions fund all of our work protecting some of the planet’s most vulnerable
wildlife through our overseas conservation projects. These funds are used to send rare and endangered animals from our partner parks, Howletts Wild Animal Park and Port Lympne Reserve, and other locations, back to the wild; rescue, rehabilitate and care
for animals (provide food, medication and shelter); provide protection for entire ecosystems; involve local communities in conservation and deliver education
programmes; and more.

We ensure funds are spent wisely to maximise their impact in caring for animals and delivering effective conservation work. We are proud of what we achieve with the resources we have, and we enjoy sharing the results with you on social media and in newsletters, because we could not do it without your support.

How do I get in contact about my adoption?
